Collective Action Toolkit

The Collective Action Toolkit (CAT) is a a free, 72-page booklet that seeks to develop a universal framework for people of all ages and cultural backgrounds to tackle big problems in their communities and emerged from Frog Design’s collaboration with Nike Foundation on the project Girl Effect.
The project explored the nature and value of connections for adolescent girls living in extreme poverty in the developing world. Frog build a prototype, a phone-based network on top of twitter, allowing isolated girls create social groups amongst themselves, building communities and friendships, aided by digital technology. The network collapsed as the developers left as the girls rarely had any access to phones. What they really needed was skills development.
Inspired by their experiences Frog then went on to create CAT, which is particularly outstanding in it’s universality and accessibility without any sacrifice on thoroughness. As such it is not aimed at urban development, but was designed to empower groups of change-makers everywhere.

The toolkit can be downloaded here.
